Mr. McDowell directs a team of development staff, and is responsible for establishing and executing National Real Estate Development’s policies and strategies, while working to identify, assess, recommend and negotiate development opportunities. With over 30 years in the development and construction industries, Mr. McDowell manages the day-to-day responsibilities for a comprehensive range of complex development activities, while coordinating the work responsibilities of development staff and working closely with construction professionals.
Mr. McDowell came to National from Spring Creek Investment Management in Philadelphia, PA, where he served as the Head of Real Estate and was responsible for the oversight of large scale multi-family, student housing, office and retail project types. Previously, Mr. McDowell worked as a Senior Project Executive with Barnes Foundation, where he was responsible for the management and oversight of the design and construction of a $150 million building. Mr. McDowell has also held the following positions, Director of Development with Brickstone Realty, Senior Director, Real Estate Development with National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) and Deputy Executive Director, Design and Construction with the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia.
Mr. McDowell holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Denison University.
